Family And Community Engagement (FACE)

Purpose of FACE (FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT): Raising the next generation is a shared responsibility. When families, communities and schools work together, students are more successful and the entire community benefits. For schools and districts across the U.S., family engagement is becoming an integral part of education reform efforts.

Black, Brown and Indigenous Seattle
We asked Black, Brown, and Indigenous residents of Seattle where they experience belonging, healing, and learning. This interactive map aims to recognize community spaces while telling their stories—and how their stories might relate to yours. Long-term goals are broad: use this feedback to advocate for a credit retrieval program for students as they volunteer with these spaces, promote justice-centered learning and advocacy programming, and help these spaces fundraise and expand their influence.

South King Emotional Wellness League (SKEWL) was formed to address the emotional well-being of historically marginalized communities in South King County most impacted by Covid-19 and police violence.

The Black Collective
The Federal Way Black Collective is an organization that is committed to providing voice, building strategy, and driving change in communities of color through policy development and the creation of resources that are equitable and culturally reflective.

The Therapy Fund Foundation (WA)
The Washington Therapy Fund Foundation was founded in an effort to eliminate some of the barriers to Black healing. In direct response to the incessant police brutality and anti-Blackness the WA Therapy Fund Foundation was birthed. Therapy is expensive and insurance plans often offer low reimbursement rates for clinicians compiled with student loan debt and business costs. Capitalism and other oppressive systems can have profound impacts on our ability to cope and maintain healthy work/life balance, thus can even create and reinforce negative self-talk and messaging. This can contribute to depression, anxiety, and suicidality. Let’s alleviate this financial burden for our Black community.

Multi-Cultural Counselors
The Washington Counselors of Color Network serves an array of ethnic clients needing counseling and therapy from providers who understand the specific needs of people of color and various cultures. As licensed therapists and counselors, we have a variety of backgrounds, experiences, ethnicities and language skills needed to assist many ethnicities in Washington.

Clinicians of Color
We founded the Facebook group Clinicians of Color, LLC, (COC) in 2016. Currently, it has over 12,000 members. Its purpose is to help therapists of color start or grow a private practice, but we also provide clinical training to help therapists of color develop skills, acquire knowledge, and become successful in business. The group has become a source of tremendous support and a safe place to process life's challenges.

The Loveland Foundation
The Loveland Foundation is the official continuation of this effort to bring opportunity and healing to communities of color, and especially to Black women and girls. Through fellowships, residency programs, listening tours, and more, ultimately we hope to contribute to both the empowerment and the liberation of the communities we serve.
